Targets

So I just switched to full metal jackets and those combined with my new PSE evolve bow is no bueno for my old target. My first shot at twenty yards sent the arrow right through the target and into a block wall destroying the brand new arrow obviously. I then made the mistake by buying the buck master target at my local wal mart. That one stopped my arrow but not until it hit the fletching and then it took me ten minutes and some finesse to pull the arrows out. Anyone recommend a target for my setup? Really don't wanna spend 200 dollars on a target so I thought I would ask. Thanks.

The Block Vault XL is a great target and is easily touched up with black and white paint. $140ish with rebates right now on Amazon. I've been shooting at this target for about 3 years now. It's got a lot of holes but still stops arrows from my elite energy 35. I shoot 70#, 31" draw and full length 250 spine Gold Tip Hunter XT's that weigh around 460 grains. I haven't shot them through my chrono yet but, I estimate it at about 290 FPS. I just switched to these arrows and was quick tuning my bow at 10 yards yesterday and it stopped these arrows with about 10" of shaft sticking out of the target.

Field points come out easy. I give the shaft a little twist to break the friction of it entering the target. Broadheads are about the same. I only use one side of the target for them. They do a bit more damage to it but, the target still stops the arrows dead in their tracks! Another good target similar to the Block, is the Elkton brand targets. They are a bit smaller though but, a touch less expensive. I prefer bigger targets for distances out to around 100 yards.

morrel bag targets are great for field points. 60-100 bucks depending on the size. if you want to shoot broad heads then block targets like stated above are great

Dude, seriously...I spent $60-$100 bucks every single year on cheap targets, then blew them out. The block included. Last year bought a $300 Matrix...BY FAR the best target I've ever shot. There's pushing 2000 shots in it now, about 100 using Ramcats, and it's still in great shape. Check them out. It's like good boots or optics, you get what you pay for, and it pays off in the long run.

Matrix targets look like a great design. I think that might be my next target after a 3D elk or deer. I like the idea of the replaceable hexagons.

That's the awesome part. We've shot mostly at the center hex and I think we have the rest of the summer on it before we rotate it out. That leaves thousands more arrows before we even have to flip it over to the backside. It's a heavy azz target, but unreal how well built it is.

Definitely looks like a nice target just to pricey for my blood. Think I'll stock with a medium block since it's so close to hunting season and funds are limited. Thanks for all the info guys I appreciate it

I purchased a medium block a couple days ago and have already put over 100 shots in it. Definitely a bad ass target! Glad I bought it. Easy arrow pull and field tips hardly do any damage. Thanks for all the help peeps
