so I'm in the market for a 3 pin Adjustable sight..Ive done some research and seams like the Spot hogg and black & gold are well liked..anybody own either of these sights? would like your input pro/cons..or any other 3 pins would be good too.

thanks

I run a IQ 3 pin. You dial the bottom pin down vs moving whole sight housing.

Advantages: the first two pins stay fixed at their yardage, the main reason I went with this sight for hunting applications.

Disadvantage: not best quality. I replaced the bolts for adjusting for the housing and resolved those issues.

I shoot a MBG 5 pin Ascent. Been shooting this sight for 4 years and love everything about it. Have a pro shop build you a custom sight tape and get out and shoot.

with the B&G if you move the adjustable are the other pins out of calibration? is that a thing with all adjustable sights?

All pins move except with the IQ pro hunter (the one I am talking about above) and g5 has one that's a 2pin but i do not like the design. Hopefully more brands will come out with similar styles.

I broke the finger adjustment knob/screws within a month on the iq and went to hardware store and replaced them with quality Allen head bolts and thing is solid now. The ?IQ? function is pretty much set and done for me. I will reference it quickly when I come to full draw to make sure my grip is correct but after that I do not look at it.

This is the g5

Depends on how you hunt, if 3 pins get you to the yardage?s you hunt or you want to just practice long range with setup a standard 3 pin slider would be what you want.

I like moving my 3rd pin on the fly and knowing a full draw I still have 2 ?fixed? pins to fall back on if animal comes in.

I'd stick with black gold or spot hog . Not sure why you only want 3 pins but the black gold and spot hog have proven to be more durable than the IQ. I TORTURE MY EQUIPMENT! Durability is a must .That's the reason I shoot Hoyt complimented with a 7 deadly pin spot hog.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-19-18 AT 07:02AM (MST)[p]the Spot Hogg was a strong choise...didnt really like the black and gold. I ended up ordering tha Acutouch pro by Axcel. light, quality, durable, and has the option with the Acutouch that clicks into preset positions of my choosing for the adjustable. why 3 pin..well I don't need a 20 pin, so one at 30, one at 40 fixed, then my adjustable set at 50, one click I'm at 60, 2 clicks I'm at 70 and so on. it's less clustered and more simplistic. 90% of my shots are between 30 to 60 yards, the rest is a waste and if I do get a closer shot it's only an inch or two difference not a factor.

Oh wow! I didn't know they manufacture a 30 pin! Does remove clutter , with at least a 5 pin you can get out to 60 with no adjustment . Then use the adjustment for longer shots. I understand if range is an issue.

I agree iq?s durability is not where it should be definitely at the price. I'm happy with mine once I replaced most of the main structural bolts. I wish a better manufacture would pick up a 2 fixed 1 floater design.

Our group all shoots a BlackGold 5 pin. Best fiberoptics on the market for low light conditions, best in black timber you can still see the pins after or before shoot time. We have delt with BlackGold great customer service and they stand behind their products.....
