Hello again, Question on fletching, vanes or feather for hunting with broadheads. say 50 yardish range Fleching seems to be big part. I,m sure some of you guyes spent lots of money trying different ones Thanks

Hi,

Your post doesn't specify - but feathers are a must on arrows in recurves (rubbery vanes don't pass over the shelf or over a rest very smooth and porpoise in flight.

If you're shooting a compound you can use either, just waterproof the feathers in case of inclement weather.

2f350s: Hunt hard, hunt ethically.

If your shooting a compound bow, we use 2? Blazers max. Helical (spelling) might be off but the Blazers shoot 8 inches higher at 50yds that 4 inch vanes on identical arrows. Less air drag or wind deflection.

Good to know!

To be honest, I would fletch a dozen arrows with different vanes and see which one your bow likes the best. I fletched 3 with 2" low profile, 3 with 1" blazer, 3 with AAE Max Hunter (3 vane), and 3 with AAE Max Hunter (4 Vane). I got a good group at 60 yards with the AAE Max Hunter (3 vane) but not so much with the 1" blazer or the 2" low profile. The 4 vane was ok but not an improvement over the 3 vane so I didn't see any reason to add another vane to each arrow.
