string decelerator

hi guys my name is John. I am fairy new to archery. I have been shooting for two years and am looking an new accessories for my bow. I have an old bow which i love and shots great for me. I recently started looking at a string decelerator for it. My question is by not having one on my bow what am i gaining or loosing because of it. And also should i get one and if so any suggestions. I have a PSE

As far as i know, they are only there for vibration dampening. So not having one your bow will just be a little louder and you might feel more hand shock.
