alaska fishing

Stick a half of herring on a circle hook slap on a 3lb weight and drop it down to the bottom in 200 feet of water. Don't set the hook or they will come off, just start reeling and the circle hook will do the rest. That's charter fishing anyway. I prefer a 4" slice of salmon belly on a 16oz jig. Its a little more finess, kind of like jigging for walleye with a musky rod on steriods. They fight a little but its more up and down. The best analogy is draggin a wet matress up off the bottom of the ocean. Dang good eating though. Have fun.
