Had a blast with elknut on this trip. Hardest hunt ever but worth ever bit of pain for these two beautiful bulls. Fortunately we have very understanding wives...

My son shot this 5point bull the morning I arrived home from Alaska. I arrived at the trailhead just in time to load him in the truck. He scored in the high 290's with G2's that were 18 in long. Too bad he was only 3 years old, he had great genes. First big game animal for my 14-year-old son, thanks grandpa for your great elk guiding!

cool pics and some nice critters for sure! Why do the big boys always go down in the worst places?

Thanks for sharing.

Yes you do have very understanding wives!! You two should definitely reward them well! Awesome moose, and Hunter's bull is great! Glad you guys made it back in one piece ;)

Congrats to your son on his elk.

As for your moose, how in the world did you get it out of the water to dress it??

We didn't, we busted the bull down on the spot. To make things worse he lodged his front shoulder in a hole were he lay in the lake, so we did one side, then the other hind Q pretty much under water (blind), then lifted the front end, turn the bull over and pulled him to shore. Lucky for us we both have Qed several elk / deer before and could do much of work by feel - if you can't do this don't shoot one by a lake / river as they often run into the water.
