A buddy of mine is heading out this fall for a moose hunt in British Columbia. He is hunting with 5 stone outfitters and is heading out of Smithers on a float plane. What would be the best way for him to get his cape and meat back to the states? He's tried contacting UPS and Fedex who didn't seem to help. Any suggestions? The only thing he could think of was to pack everything in ice and overnight it home. Thanks for the help!

I know when I hunted with the Lancaster's in Northern BC they took care of everything. They got the cape/horns to a taxidermist. he boiled the skull plate. Fleshed, salted, etc. the cape and got it dry. I believe it was Ron's Wildlife Service. I paid him for his service and then he crated up the items and they were delivered via semi to my door. What does the outfitter recommend?

I put the meat on the plane (alaska airlines) with us last year and shipped the horns home fed ex. I let a shipper do it last minute because alaska said they had boxes and when we got to the counter they didn't. so I run across the parking lot to the aircharter we used and they passed along to the shipper. I said no hurry to the shipper on the phone. (two caribou cut in half @ the skull and blacktail horns) in a box. Well 275.00 later they were home . The shipper waited a week then shipped them 2-day.. so tell your friend do his home work and then some. this was in alaska , and a charter (guide). they act like its all easy to take care of things till its time to go home... see yaaa! I think a good outtfitter from canada would probably do a better job for there customuers... tell him good luck. j
