I want to fish alaska

Hey all you alaskan fisherman. Me and few buddies want to do a self-guided fly fishing trip to an out of the way river with plenty of big rainbows, char, and dollies. Some silvers would be awesome too. But we want to fly in and fish a river thats accessible by car or short hike that offers some seclusion. Let us know what you know, and when the best time is to go. You want to fish for the big rainbows from mid August through September. I have fished some of the more remote rivers and streams in Alaska and they are awesome. I'm not that familier with rivers you can just drive and hike to. Good luck.

Last Septemeber I floated the Alagnak river for 7 days diy with 5 other guys and had a blast. There were chums, kings, silvers, rainbows and grayling in the river at the time. Pm if ya want

Look at floating moose creek to the Deshka then down to the big Su.. You can acsess it from the oilwell road.
Or fly into Neil lake and float Kroto to the Deshka..
Ya can't go wrong with those two..

DESHKA???

I JUST GOT BACK FROM ALASKA A WEEK AGO!!!

THE DAY BEFORE I GOT THERE THEY CLOSED THE DESHKA TO CATCH & RELEASE ONLY!!!

THE SALMON NUMBERS WERE LOW ENOUGH THEY WERE THINKING ABOUT CLOSING IT ALTOGETHER!!!

DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED FOR SURE???

WELL AFTER IT WENT TO CATCH & RELEASE THE GUIDES/FISHERMEN SWARMED DOWN WHERE I WAS FISHING ON THE LITTLE SU!!!

WAFJ!!!

WALL TO WALL BOATS & THEY HAMMERED THE LITTLE SU TO WHERE YOU COULDN'T HARDLY CATCH A KING!!!

MANAGING FISH JUST LIKE UTAH MANAGES BIG GAME!!!

THEY ALSO CLOSED A FEW OTHER RIVERS WHILE I WAS UP THERE!!!

SOME OF THE LOCALS ARE GETTIN PISSED & IF THEY SEE OUTA STATE PLATES THEY GOT AN ATTITUDE!!!

THEY ARE OVER FISHING ALASKA,MARK MY WORD ON IT!!!

GUESS THEY'VE EVEN CUT THE HALIBUT BACK TO ONE FISH IN PLACES,WHERE I WAS FISHING THE LIMIT WAS TWO!!!

WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH DAMAGE THE COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN ARE DOING WITH TODAYS TECHNOLOGY???

GEEZUS I HOPE THE STATE OF ALASKA WAKES THE HELL UP!!!

COARSE I BEEN HOPEING THE SAME THING HERE IN TARDVILLE FOR 35+ YEARS & IT AIN'T HAPPENED YET!!!

I fished the Deshka from the 7th through the 12th,, And we hammerd them.. At times we were the only 3 boats on the water, and a couple of times we had hook ups on all 3 boats at the same time..
Most of the fish we caught were heading farther north, And were just stopping in to clean the silt out of there gills and take a breather..
The Deshka run is starting to shape up now though, If things stay on track they should meet the minimum escapment goal no problem.. in fact it looks like one of the only runs in that part of the state that is coming togeather.
I took my Zodiac down to the little Su one afternoon to check it out,, No doubt that was a circus, We just drank a few beers with some friends that were camped there and got the hell out..
As far as the silvers on the Deshka they have held there own pretty good through the years and it looks like this year should be no different.. the only time i have seen the silver run be a bust was i think 04 when that flood wiped out the weir..

Hey Bess did you catch any of the maddness over on the Kenai and Russian for them Reds??
There were so many reds stacked up below the confluence,, We were hooking up just about every plunk, We caught and relesed so many fish that i thought my wrist would break..

I TOOK A LOOK AT THE ELBOW TO ELBOW ACTION ON THE KENAI/RUSSIAN!!!

BUT THAT AIN'T WHY I WENT TO ALASKA!!!

I DO NOT LIKE CROWDS & SINCE THE KING FISHING WAS SLOW/CLOSED IN SOME AREAS IT LOOKED LIKE EVERYBODY FOUND OUT ABOUT THE SOCKEYES!!!

IF I'D OF HAD ANOTHER DAY OR TWO I'D OF WENT DOWN THERE & "JUST WATCHED"!!!

COMBAT FISHIN AT ITS BEST!!!

GOOD GAWD THERE WERE ALOT OF PEOPLE IN THERE!!!

opening earlier than usual and the EO for six fish really drew the crowds..
