Inland aviation or papa bear?

Has anyone flown with Inland aviation or Papa Bear into GMU 18? I have talked with Steve at Papa Bear, seems to be real reputable, albeit a little high priced. I have not contacted Inland yet. Looking at doing a moose drop hunt. I have a list of air charters, but these names seem to pop up the most. Any suggestions?

I can't speak to Inland aviation (I have never heard of them) but I can tell you great things about Papa Bear Adventures. I have been on numerous trips with them and they always do a great job. I have harvested moose, caribou, sheep, bears, and a bonus wolverine, plus some excellent fishing as well.

The cost of hunting in Alaska has gone up substantially. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. If this is your once if a lifetime moose hunt then save your money and go with the air taxi that will provide the best hunt period. Make sure you ask the right questions. Like does the cost of the trip include flying the moose meat out or is there an extra charge for that? Does the price quoted include moving your camp if you aren't seeing animals? Talk to hunters that have flown with them the past few years, especially the ones who didn't harvest an animal.

Let me know if I can answer any specific questions about Papa Bear?

You're right about you get what you pay for. I've seen good things about papa bear on the pristine ventures and outdoor directory websites. I talked with Steve at the Denver ISE show this last weekend. I did find out the price he quoted (3750) does include meat haul's during the hunt, and he has freezer space in Bethel to store them. I need to ask him about moving if the area is unproductive. I talked with 2 hunters who hunted with him last year and they were booking another hunt with him right then and there. I will probably book with him, but I would like to get a hold of Inland aviation out of Aniak first. Thanks for your reply, and if you don't mind, I'll probably be picking your brain again soon.

I agree with AKHUNTINFOOL. Went with PAPA Bear last year and it was great, just trying to figure out how to go again!
I don't know anything about Inland but you can't go wrong with Steve.

FYI- AKHUNTINFOOL, they susupended their caribou hunts because of the low numbers.

Zekers- My uncle and I are booked with Steve this year for Sept. So far everything has went according to plan and what Steve has told us. We have talked to him numerous times for more details and info. He always gets right back to us and is more than willing to help. Seems like a real straight up guy. As for Inland, I don't have any info. We worked with 40 mile air out of Tok also, we just decided to go with Papa Bear. Good luck

I went ahead and booked with Papa Bear for this Sep 1st-10. You're right, he seems really straight up. I've e-mailed a few times and he always e-mails back immediately. What unit are you hunting? We're in 18. I hope you have a great hunt, and let me know how it goes. Good luck.

Zekers-
That is cool that you are going with PB. How many guys are in your group? We go in to 18 also, about a week later than you do. It would be great if you could get in touch with me and let me know how everything went. Anyways good luck and I'm sure I'll be posting how we did. Thanks
