My wife and I are in the planning stages of a DIY fishing trip to Alaska for this summer. What we want is some help in finding a remote river where we can fish silvers diy for a week without being overrun with crowds. We are willing to camp, canoe or rent a cabin if we can find the right location. Just need some information from anyone who has done this and any advice would be very much appreciated.

What do you consider remote? You can use a boat transport and do a drop off. You can access good silver fishing from PWS through wittier or cordova, valdez. Also look into the kenia. There are some boat tranports out of homer that can take you over to Seldovia for some good silver fishing.

One thing you need to consider, when silvers enter the streams, tourist season is coming to an end. There are some great silver streams that are road accessible. Do your homeworkd and you'll find some good fishing with minimal crowds. You should think about fishing the salt too. Charters out of Seward are very affordable and you can keep 6 fish a day.

Thanks Bodhi. Appreciate It.

Any recommendations of specific Seldovia or Seward charters or would be welcomed. I appreciate your response.

RE: Thanks Bodhi. Appreciate It.

No problem. if you fish seward, bar none Andy Mezeiro with Cracker Jack fishing charter is the best. There are plenty of others if he is booked. Check in with the Fish house and they will set you up with someone good. It's a small town so the bad charters dont hang around very long.

As far as seldovia goes, check with Homer ocean charters. They have been in business for a long time and fish that area exclusively. There are probaly some guides working out of Seldovia too. You can take the ferry over from homer and arrange a charter directly there.

The Kenai river crowds pretty much pack up and go home after the late king season is over. You can find places to fish from the shore without too much competition. The parks highway streams are also not too bad, especially during the weekdays. Weekends get a little crowded no matter where you go. You can get a guide to take you on the Little Su or over to the deshka for silver. Andy Couch at Fishtale charters would be a good start. I don't know any guides on the Kenai. Never had better silver fishing in my life than out of Seward with TNT Adventures. Fished the rivers across the Cook Inlet with TNT as well and both trips were great. Cannot wait to go again.
