Kodiak Sitka Hunt

Heading to Kodiak in late October to hunt deer, any suggestions on gear? Specifically rain gear?

Frog togs seem to be cheap and work well. in october you'll likely be hiking your tail off so I'd go light.

Where are you hunting and with who?

Been to Kodiak twice. First time with some sort of gore tex garbage. Second trip Helley Hansen full length trench coat. It was great! Kinda heavy but it keeps the wet out.

i'm going with nvchuckarman also in october can't wait gona be a hunt of a lifetime with great friends. if anyone else has pics from there blacktail hunt please post pics to get us fired up thanks alot guys. also any pics of the sea ducks or fish that you shot or caught we would love to see also thanks again and good luck this coming hunting season.

Get some Helly Hanson Impertech... if someone reccomends anything else they probably haven't been to Kodiak and experienced the weather you're going to experience. Good luck... you're in for an adventure. Hopefully the winter slows down up there. Ed F

orion23 nice bucks man that really gets me pumped up for october, just curious did u guys fish much, and did anybody get a chance to shoot seaducks while u were there? congrats again.

we screwed around fishing but not serious. no one on the boat brought a shotgun so we didnt shoot any. i would have brought a shotgun but your so limited on how much gear you can bring weight wise, i left it at home. ill be curious to see how your hunt is in october.

orion23 thanks for the response. ya there is six of us that booked the boat for the end of october we are planning on just taking 2 shotguns for the six of us, and just taking turns shooting ducks. there is 4 of us that are big duck hunters and 2 not so much. I have a buddie that has done this hunt twice and he said it is the funniest hunt he has ever been on. Man i don't think i can wait until october. thanks again, keep in touch.

Great pictures, looks like your group rocked! A couple of question on the helly hansen. I have never bought bibs? Would you recommend them over the rain pants? Also any suggestions on rifle options?
