308 Win. Bullet and Black Bear

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-14 AT 10:00PM (MST)[p]I'm taking my 14 yr. old son black bear hunting on POW Island in a month. My question is what bullet should I use. Shot will be under 200 yds. Bullets I have 168 Berger VLD, 165 Nosler Balistic Tip, 165 Nolser Accubond, 168 Barnes TTSX, Hornady 165 Interlock and Hornady 150 GMX. I'm sure all will work if put in the boiler room, but I want to hear from somebody that has put one on the ground with one of these bullets. I'm getting 2800fps out of them. Thanks for your imput.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-14 AT 02:54AM (MST)[p]My son and I have both shot bears on Kuiu and POW with Bergers [he's a guide on POW]. Bergers showed stellar performance on all bears! One thing though, on POW, you really have to knock their "d!ck in the dirt" on the spot. Putting one through the boiler and then tracking them for even 20 yards through the nastiest crap you've ever see on POW is NOT fun. Bust their shoulders first if you can.
I'd go with Bergers.

What was said before about knocking a bear flat down on POW is spot on. That shiz is thick there!!

I shot a bear there with 180 Nosler partitions. 165 would probably do well too. Bust both front shoulders so the sucker can't get back up!!
