Color of antlers is based on what type of tree they are rubbing against. This one has been rubbing alders which gives the nice golden color. They will be brown is rubbing on pines. I have seen some with a ruby red color - not sure which tree/bush gives this color.
That is a call around his neck. Pretty much a bleat call. The reed on these is a standard rubber band. Blacktails are very susceptible to calling and bucks especially so during the rut. We do a lot of calling in open timber and along the margins of openings (muskegs).
"Great looking buck, what's up with the different colors on that
rack? Bases are different color.
Also is that some type of call around the hunters neck?
Very different..... "
