Tent Choice

I've been researching tents for about 6 months. Need to buy 2 tents to use as base camp type tents for fly in or pack in type hunts. Not for backpacking.

I want good solid life saving dry windproof tents. To be used in Alaska and on other hunts. Using about once a year max probably.(have other cheaper tents to abuse as needed)

Narrowed down to 3 choices. Please help.

North Face Himalayan 47
Bibler Bomb Shelter
MSR Storm King

Thanks for any input.

Its between bombshelter from Barneys and Arctic oven now.

Any thoughts? I'm leaning more towards the AO since I can get an 8x8 with a stove vent for future use. Though I think I have to pay extra for a vestibule.

Just want to make sure I do this right.

Thanks, Jeff

I have both---AO is great for winter--all around the bomb shelter is lighter, more compact. I have wick, kerosene heaters I use when necessary in the Bomb shelters and they will raise the temp. 30 degress in 15min.

Thank you for that input. It may have answered the final question of choice.

Thanks, Jeff

Just purchased The North Face Himaliyan 47, love it! I had the Moss Titan and Cabela's Alaskan Guide 8 Man, The North Face is the best so far. Great deal at Bob Wards for $417.00 after Xmas sale.

Good Luck

Since this is an old post thought I'd update my end FWIW. Ended up buying a 6man Kifaru Tipi and have not regretted it yet. Plenty room. Ready for stove. Light weight.
