Hey gents I want to take my dad on a bou hunt, I wanted to know alaska or canada? Which guides would you recomend? What is ihe price norm? I am budgeting 5000.00 total each is that enough?

FEAR NOT FOR I AM WITH YOU! Walk soft and carry a 300 RUM,

I will 2nd that question from elkslayer, as 5 of us are also seriously looking at a caribou hunt, 3 men 2 wives. Any info would greatly assist us in our planning.

Since both of you are asking......You want to take your father and/or wives, I would suggest hiring a guide or outfitter who follows the herds as they migrate and has the ability to put you where the caribou are. There can be a lot less walking and work involved. And a high success rate. Probably Alaska. I used this outfit and was real happy http://www.airguides.com/index.htm

Cabelas also offers the same thing and I know a guy who went on their hunt and was real happy. I've used Cabelas for booking hunts in the past and would highly recommend them.

As far as price. 2,000 should get you an unguided hunt. Plus airfare to Alaska and license and tag. Shipping meat and antlers will add up too. Check prices for guided hunts.

In my opinion, if you want adventure, excitement, and fun you can't beat a caribou hunt. Most herds are in great shape, so now might be the time to go.

Good luck, and hope this helps!

The Kotzebue herd is the biggest in Alaska. The size of the herd is around 450,000.

Can you guys rate the Kotzebue area versus the rest of the state in terms of scenery and type of hunt to expect.
Thanx
