I lived in AK from 1970-2000. Alaska is BIG country...I miss moose hunting in places where other hunters were miles away. I miss never seeing a "NO HUNTING" sign. The September colors. The smell of the woods in September. No snakes...bonus.

Hunting on the east coast basically sucks...not enough space...little public land. I can fly home to AK for a real hunt cheaper that I can buy a annual membership at a "Hunting Club"...shoot a real animal vs. a punnie deer with less meat than my Labrador has on it's bones.

The only bad thing about AK is that hunting seasons are so short, and the winters are sooooo long.

Glad to see they added this forum. Headed to Anchorage July 23rd for 10 days of silver fishing...can't wait.

uhhh, The best thing here is for me is a toss-up between the dividend check check I get every fall and the rights to use our state lands with out stupid regulations. Did you know that all of our state parks are opened to hunting and trapping?

The scenery, the fishing, seeing a moose in town. EVERTHING!! Wishing I was there now.
