My friend's son lives there and we are thinking of going hunting there in a couple of years. I was wondering if anyone here has hunted in the area and what you recommed. I was thinking of caribou or moose. I would like to here what you guys have to say. Thanks.

I was in Fairbanks only once, back in 1984 while on vacation and south of Fairbanks we seen Moose and from what I have heard and read, there is also a "free range" herd of Buffalo I think it is Delta, Alaska.
My step-brother who is a resident says he keeps putting in for the Buffalo each year and hopes to draw one of these days. Something to look into now.

My sister used to live in Fairbanks and she has pictures of moose in her front yard, so there are plenty of moose. As far as any hunting areas her husband took a moose somewhere near fairbanks. If you would like more info I could get it.

Here is my bro in law with a bear from a hunt a few hours from Fairbanks.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-04-06 AT 01:36AM (MST)[p]Hunting close around fairbanks for moose is bow only.It get hit pretty hard. If i was going to spend the money to come up here i would suggest flying out away from fairbanks. but if thats not an opption then caribou hunt on the steese or Dalton(Bow only) in Sept. You wont be alone but stand a good chance at a bou.
