What brand boots do you guys recommend ?

I have been using Redwing and Irish Setter boots for years and have been having problems lately. The sole starts to separate from the boot. This has happend on two pairs of mine and a pair of my dads. Just wondering what brand to buy next.

Kenetrek or Hanwag through Lathrop & Sons. Have boots from both and love them. Cannot go wrong.

So far I've pounded the crap out of one set of Irish Setter Elk Trackers and bought a new pair two years ago. Hope the newer ones aren't of lesser quality. Will Irish Setter work with you? I do know the Kennetrek is one Hell of a boot. mtmuley

Take a look at Lowa Renegades and Tibets. I use the Tibets for super steep, rocky slopes,and snow...and the Renegades when trying to cover lots of country.

I personally like Asolo. But they fit my feet. So I've stuck with them. The boot I use has been discontinued so I may have to do some research myself next year. Which ever brand you go with make sure they fit!

I was a huge fan of Vasque's and bought a new pair this spring, but then started reading reviews and found when they switched production from Italy to China they started having major quality problems.

Irish Setter's don't fit my feet well, so I went with Merrill Outbound Mid and love them. They took no break-in time.

No matter what boot you buy, replace the insole (actually Lathrop & Sons is the one that told me that).

I like Meindle Alaskan hunter for sheep and elk hunting where large loads are carried. Since I don't seen to wear boots out too quickly there are others which I'm sure are great boots but havn't had the chance to try.

If you're asking about a hunting/hiking boot... I have 3 years now on my Cabelas perfekt hikers. Lord only knows how many miles are on them. Don't know yet if I'll get them resoled or replace with new. Very good boots!

My favorite light weight boot is the Lowa Renegade my favorite hiking boot is the Kenetrek hardscrabble both are great boots.
