Rifle sling

A while back in a post there was mention of a "Claw" sling that kept your rifle from slipping off the shoulder straps of your backpack while hiking. Anyone know what sling they were talking about?

It is the "claw" by Quake Industries. You can find them on cabaelas website if you do a search. They have their standard and also a contoured version for rifles. I haven't tried one, but I am going to this year.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-11 AT 01:11PM (MST)[p]Yup I have used a lot of slings and the Claw is awsome. I had to buy one for everyone of my rifles after I used it coyote hunting last year. It stays right where you put it.

Edit- you can also find them at Sportsmans Warehouse and most other sporting goods stores.

Thanks for the info. I will look into them. Cabelas reviews are very positive for them.

good post, looks like i got to try this bad boy away. usaully the only good sling i can find is butler creek, but that is all people carry other than a wal-mart special

I bought one for my muzzy and another one for my daughter's .243. Liking the Claw so far.

I bought a sling years ago that has a very slight S shape. It's a double strap that is fairly wide where it rides on the shoulder. The strap meshes together with velcro so it can be used as a single strap, or it separates so you can use it like a back pack. I've loved it. it is very functional , even after many years of use. People I hunt with, like it and want one, but it has no identifying information on it. I have never seen another one like it, although I keep looking. Maybe someone out there has info on one like this.??

The claw sling does stay on really well! I have used it for a few years now and have never have a problem with it coming off. And like you said, even when worn over a backpack strap it stays in place really well. I wish somebody on here could identify the sling that Bucklover spoke of, it would be nice when hiking to be able to double shoulder it, thus alleviating the single sling shoulder strain. Tab gear makes a Biathalon sling that has two straps, though if carrying it single sling fashion you do not have the grip of the claw. I just picked this sling up and am anxious to see how it works with a pack.

In case you're interested I've spent the last few days hiking with the Tab Gear Biathlon sling. It works amazingly well. I wear the gun on the side beside my pack like a regular sling, but put the second shoulder strap on my other shoulder down across the front of my stomach. It stays in place really well.
