Favorite Pack?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-11 AT 07:09PM (MST)[p]Horn Hunter Full Curl for me. 1 pack to do everything I need for 1/2 day scouting to 5 dayers. Also works as a pack frame that holds a bladder and 600ci worth of gear.

Eberlestock X2. It is made exactly as a daypack that can haul out your elk quarter. Plus I love the scabbard and bow "butt bucket" that gives access to your rifle/bow without taking off your pack.

I have stuck with the Badlands 2800 over the last several years. It has always worked well for me hauling stuff in and even more stuff out. I also use superday for short trips. that has been a great pack as well.

YOU'RE FAT!! DON'T TRY AND SUGAR COAT IT OR YOU WILL EAT THAT TOO!!

To carry out game meat, I wouldn't use any backpack. That just sounds like a bloody mess. I always use drawstring, washable stuff sacks. Ozark makes them for $5 a piece and they work great for hauling out small to mid-size game.

MR Crew Cab for me.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-11 AT 07:49AM (MST)[p]Hornhunter Full Curl one of the most versatile packs I have ever used great daypack and can haul out a ton of meat before I got my curl pack it was the Hornhunter Mainbeam XL

My Badlands 2800 has served me well for more than five years. It has hauled lots of meat and done a few overnighters. It is also my day in and day out daypack.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-10-11 AT 11:16PM (MST)[p]Badlands Sacrifice worked great for me just packed out a 65 pound load on Monday and it distributed the weight great. I definetly recommend it. Lots of pouches to store everything you need like spotting scope, tripod, etc. with alot of room left over.

Blacks Creek Canadian that pack is awesome, I was skeptical at first but wouldnt use any other pack now...

I have been using the horn hunter full curl this year. So far, it has really impressed me. I am heading out for a week hunt in a week and will also use it for packing at the end of September. I will post a good review in that section of MM after I am done for the season...

I will be hunting with the Horn Hunter Full Curl as well and so far I finally think I found a do-it-all pack. US made, very versitile, and comftorble. I leave in 12-days and hhope to really put it to the test as well. So far it is great!

As far as carrying meat out, I just use my Badlands Superday Pack. To keep everything from getting bloody I pack the meat into a cheap alice pack liner for 4 bucks from the army surplus store. It's a waterproof rubberlined bag. It's fairly small and lightweight, so I just keep it rolled up in my pack until I need it. It also comes in handy to sit on when the ground is wet and muddy.

Call me old fashioned...Kelty hands down.
Try the rest with the same weight and you will see why Kelty is better.
Best,
Jerry

I still prefer the "modular approach", I use the Cabela's Alaskan Outfitter Frame, and lash my daypack and other supplies to it. Most of my spike camp, food, and gear fits inside my Badlands Superday, and then I can use it as a day pack when I hunt.

I just don't need a 3000 cubic inch pack on my back when I'm physically hunting; I try to minimize when I'm doing "elk aerobics".

If I get a bull down, I will retrieve the frame pack from my spike camp, and start humping meat.

Best of Luck,
Jeff

+1 for the MRCC...
