What are some of the tricks that you use for getting rid of the nasty tasting water one gets with using new H20 bladders for your back pack.

In the past with new bladders, I've filled them up with lemon juice and water and let sit for a couple of days in a dark, cool spot. Kind of works.

I was just wonder if anybody has a better idea they can recommend.

Thanks in advance

I usually fill it all the way up with water and then put a cap full of clorox bleach in it and let it sit for a day. Then clean it out with dish soap and its good to go.

I've tried several different bladders. The first time I rinsed it, filled her up and took off hiking. It was hot and I finally stopped for a drink. Took a big old pull on the tube and about choked to death! Talk about a nasty taste! I walked back to the truck, thirsty. I had no idea they came tasting like that. I just can't get used to it. So I stick with other types of water carrying devises and canteens.

I just hang my badlands 3 litre blatter hanging upside down, lid off and something inside to keep it open to dry and air out while in storage. Never had any bad taste left in it.

fill your bladder 1/4 full with hot water & add 2 tablespoons of baking soda put the cap back on & shake the crap out of it let it sit for about 5 minutes..pop the top drain & repeat with warm water..same again 3rd time use cold water & 1 tablespoon of soda.. than rinse thoroughly with cold water...make sure u empty the bladder everytime u put it away & about every 3rd or 4th use drop a couple of tablespoons of baking soda into it & shake it good & rinse & I also use a couple of shots of bleach at least a couple of times a year just to kill any unwanted fungi !!! I have used this system for the last 8 years & works great for me..
