Hardscramble or Mountain Extremes????

I'm looking for the "perfect" boot for chukar hunting. I've kinda narrowed the search down to the Hardscramble or the uninsulated Mountain Extreme. The steep, lava rock country just wears down soles pretty fast. My boots seem to have the soles wear out before anything else. Most of the country is either all rock or patchy rocks. The soles get worn and I lose traction and have near falls or falls just because of slippage. I like the Kennetreks I've seen because the rubber comes over the toe. When your foot slides between two rocks and one of them pokes into the top of the boot, it hurts!!

I've used everything from Light weight, uninsulated Danners to Cabelas Elk Hunters and a variety of Rockys. The Rocky soles are so soft that after 1/3 of a season, all of the edges are rounded.

My feet aren't picky, or are very forgiving. Very few boots I've bought don't "fit." Any advice??

I have worn both the hardscrabble and the mountain extremes this year and have put a lot of miles on both. They are both awesome boots as far as durability and I don't think that you could go wrong with either. The mountain extremes don't seem as stiff to me but it might just be a personal preference kinda thing.
bowhunter3,
Go big or go home

Mountain Extremes. But i got the 400 gram insulate so i haven't worn them yet. Put 60 miles on some old Danners so far this chukar season. Nice boots when it's dry and hot because they are so light.

I'll let you know how the MEs work.
