I was looking at a new pair of boots (I seem to do that too often) and decided I'd order all of the ones that I was considering and compare them against each other. Since I had them all in one place, I made a quick video and put it on youtube. Maybe it may help one of you fellas who may be interested in one of these boots.

Hanwag Alaska GTX
Lowa Tibet
Meindl Alaska Hiker
Kenetrek Hardscrabble
Zamberlan 965 Lhasa
Asolo Sasslong

Thanks for informative presentation...I have read quite a few posts on the subject of boots on MM and this tied it all together. Appreciate your time, expense and effort.

So what boots did you decide upon? Thanks for taking the time to make that video, it was nice to see them all next to each other.

Keeping the tibets and the meindls, although not the alaska hikers - going with the new denalis and/or the anniversary boots.

All great stuff, though. Different but very good.

Really appreciate the overview dryflyelk. I've been trying to go to stores to try different pairs on, so far have tried the Kenetrek and Meindle's. Anyone know of a store in UT that carries the Lowa's?
Thanks

I haven't tried any of these on yet, but my first choice would be the tibet's also. Or maybe the Lowa hunter's which they say are the tibet's but taller with some insulation in them. Need to try some on.

I haven't found the lowa's we're after in local stores; however, if you buy from zappos, or some of the other good sites, they ship free both ways. You can put a few on your cc and send them back if you don't like them or find something else. In fact, with zappos, they give me free overnight shipping on everything. The negative part is that you usually pay full retail.

Thanks DryflyElk,

Thats the trouble with the internet. Great access to stuff while having no access to stuff:) I would guess until you know what size and make of boot are for you free shipping would pay off in the end. Thanks for the heads up on Zappos.

Shoebuy.com usually has 20% off of the Tibets plus another 10% for 1st time purchases. I got mine for $220 shipped free both ways.
