Thinking about getting some KUIU stuff just looking for some reviews good or bad thanks.

IMO the stuff is great! I have only been fortunate enough to try the attack pants and guide jacket but will be buying the rest of the gear before next season! PM sent...

I'd sure like to see production speed up, I'm on the wait list for the Attack Pant. Seems the place they were having the material made had a big earthquake followed by a tsunami.

Love the attack pant, much better than the sitka ascent pant and russell apxg2. Merino base layers are good but core4element is better. The guide jackets ok but like all the rest isn't windproof, I think the sitka jetstream is a better choice if you need windproof. Raingear is top notch stuff.

Was comparing the Kuiu 3000 to the Sitka Flash 3200,and found that you have to buy the frame seperatley on the Kuiu. After comparing all the specs. i'm leaning toward the Sitka. The only problem is they are out of stock and won't have any until spring.

I think the clothing is outstanding.

The pack, in my opinion, needs a little work. But it is lite and adequate.

Ive owned alot of camo in my time. This year i bought Kuiu and im here to tell you cannot beat it for price and it works.
i own: Merino 185 tops and bottoms, spindrift, attack pants, guide jacket, wool benie, guide benie, gloves, Icon 3000, wool neck warmer, chugach pants.
i recently used the pack on a late elk hunt. Nothing beats this pack when it comes to hauling out elk quarters! Everyone else packing quarters were in pain. Mystery ranch, eberlestock packs were not working properly and not packing thw weight of the elk the way they should. I was able to carry one hind, one shoulder, both backstraps along with my rifle and other daily gear. My pack had to of weighted at least 100lbs. I was walking completely upright, no need to lean forward, ect. Packs hip belt was awesome. I ended up giving my walking poles to another guy wearing an eberlestock pack.
The camo pattern is outstanding! It does what it is intended to do. Break up the human outline. And does it ever. Many will say to them.. ie: human vision, it doesnt look right. But whos eye are we all trying to fool. A humans or an animals. And it fools them. I had a group of 6 bucks walk right past me at 10 yards feeding in open sage that never saw me.
Im sold on KUIU and waiting for more gear to come in. The tsunami that hit japan delayed the shipment of material to make the Kuiu gear, thats why things are back ordered. And it is there first year in business.
They are also coming out with spindrift bottoms, gaiters, guide pants and other things.
you wont be disappointed with it.

Dreaminbouthunting,

Thats good to hear about the packs holding up well to a heavy load. I have to say I'm skeptical on the MRCC pack being the culprit for the guy using it being in pain. I've used one once, and had a buddy that hauled an entire elk out in two trips 5 miles on way with his MRCC this year and he said it was the best pack he's ever worn with weight in it. My guess is the guy wearing it was either out of shape or had it adjusted improperly.

Sorry for the thread hijack!

Great gear, period. I have worn Sitka and other stuff in the past. This past season I had guide jacket, attack pants, Chugach rain gear, spindrift jacket and wore this gear for caribou and moose in Alaska an elk in Montana. Light, functional, tough. The rain gear is superb. The guide jacket is not totally windproof...so slip on the rain jacket. The spindrift jacket is worth its weight in Prima Loft! It really helps to cut down the total pack weight.

Just got the call that my attack pants were available. Could only purchase what you were put on the waiting list for, but at least I will have them before next season.

I didn't buy any clothing for a very simple reason -- pockets. Every Kuiu jacket only has two pockets and Sitka has two vertical chest pockets (typically) and two waist pockets with an interior pocket as well that are all zippered.

My base layers are First Lite and other MTNeering shwag -- heard great things about Core 4 though.

I really like the Kuiu macro-pattern but I think it would be nice if they could introduce a micro-pattern to work when the animal is in close range (Tiger stripes v. Leapord dots). Although I've heard that hunters haven't had much problem with the pattern.

I bought the Icon 3000 pack and used it on an three elk hunts, an antelope hunt, and I'm chasing lions with it on my back now. After my first elk hunt, the joints above the shoulders ripped from the fabric. It was a manufacture defect that they were working to correct and when I sent it back in, they were extremely helpful and replaced the bag and fixed the problem. No problems since with the construction.

The pack is a great price point but I'd be hard pressed to pass on a Mystery Ranch or Kifaru if I had the money.

The only other issue I had with the pack was the pivot point between the frame and waist bell on the lower back. The pivot point is rubber and the frame is carbon and the combination of the two will squeak with ever step if not adjusted properly. It took some time, but I got it worked out.

Best of luck.

I just got my Guide Jacket today. It fits great. Sleeves stay put even with my arms above my head or drawing a bow. You can even adjust the hood to keep vision while turning your head to aim a bow.

I haven't had a chance to test the fabric while hunting, but I have no doubt it will be awesome.

Wool base layer is awesome. It is 17.5 micron wool and I can tell a difference between it and an icebreaker 18.5 micron base layer. The kuiu is much softer. I also like that the base layer isn't compression fit. I too am bummed about delays getting the product. Their soft shell material is really quality. IMO kuiu is doing it right. Better fit, better product than Sitka
