What light weight multi tool, such as the skeletool by leatherman. It is 5 Oz.

What is a good balance between weight and usability on back pack hunts or in your day pack?

Let me know what you guys use and like.

Thanks

I have the Leatherman skeletool and it is light but it only has a pliers, knife blade, and a screwdriver. I also have a leatherman wave and at 8.5 oz it has alot more tools. I carry the skeletool for everyday use but pack the wave when I back pack hunt. Check out leatherman's website to compare weights and models.

I have had the Super Tool 300 for over 10 years. Love it, very high quality steel and the serrated knife does not dull. I use it in conjuction with my 2.0 oz Havel razor knife and this combo has me prepared for everything.

The tools I have used either regularly or in near emergencies are, Regular knife blade(boning), serrated blade(gristle and some hide), pliers/needle nose(everything), large, med, and phillips screw driver head(not bits), wire cutter, saw blade(broke on elk skull). The items I have not used much are bottle opener, medium screwdriver head, AWL, and file. I use horses so I wouldn't give them up to save the 1oz diff in weight. Mine is the biggest I think at 9.6oz, but at 11.6 oz I feel like I have an entire tool box, including two knives of owesome quality and I don't need to bring any kind of knife sharpener between the Havalon razor's and this serrated knife which saves me probably a min of 2-3oz there.

Without the horses I would consider the 7oz sidekick and feel totally covered, along with the havalon. No one blade can withstand any big game animal due the the hair without sharpening. I only bone with this Leatherman straight blade, or open packages of jerky so it stays sharp between annual touch ups.
