For all of you that have been searching for a great knife sharpener, I just found the answer. I recently purchased the Work Sharp knife sharpener from Cabela's and man, this thing is awesome!

I've always used Gatco sharpeners, and while they can put a great edge on a blade, it takes some time...especially when you're trying to sharpen the entire kitchen block.

My kitchen knives were in bad shape, but I really didn't want to spend hours sharpening them. A friend of mine told me about the Work Sharp, and I thought 'yeah right' we'll see just how good this thing is. Well, I ate crow! I sharpened 6 knives the other night in about 10 minutes...as in 10 minutes for all 6 knives combined! And, all of them shave with ease from the handle to the tip. Maybe I'm just a dork, but this thing amazes me...how could I have not heard about this sharpener before??

In the field I use mostly Havalon knives, but I do have a few larger hunting blades that I sharpened up and am looking forward to using them again this season.

Obviously this sharpener is not going with you on a hunt (electric and too heavy to put in your pack), but for sharpening at home before the hunt, it can't be beat. I know this probably comes off as sounding like I work for Work Sharp, but that is definitely not the case...I'm just impressed! Seriously, anyone that wants a good sharpener needs to check them out...at least go read the reviews on Cabela's - you won't regret it!

P.S. For all the dads out there, Father's Day is just around the corner. :D

Yep, just got mine and judast does it put an edge on in a hurry! I'm curious to see how long the edge lasts? But holy crap! Well worth the money!

i can't sharpen a blade worth a $hit. ha ha. getting ready to puschase a havalon. but, the other knives i have, i take to a local guy that puts a wicked edge on them. $2 a knife. his shop is mainly for saw blades, chainsaws, etc. not knives. i'm sure most shops like this can also sharpen a knife, and i bet a hell of a lot cheaper than a 'knife' shop. may be worth looking into.
