I'm looking to buy a new pack for this fall. I need something that can handle a 2 day trip carrying the essentials plus a rifle, a sleeping bag and maybe a small tent. I have looked hard at the eberlestock j34, but I would like some other recomendations before I pull the trigger. The j34 is probably where I want to be in terms of price.

Hi, We sell lots of packs and this is by far our favorite and #1 seller for what you are looking for. The great thing about this pack is when we get camp set up and ready to hunt, we can use this pack for a large day pack for the day. Most other packs are too bulky for that comfort. Plus, it will carry more than most men can carry.

Good luck.

E-Stock makes great packs IMHO. I have a J-104 and use it as stated above. Drop off the gear, unzip the camp-bivy and set it up for hunting. I don't mind the extra weight and bulk hunting. I get to carry everything I need and it's more comfortable than my small daypacks.

I hunt with the Horn Hunter Full Curl system. There is plenty of info here about it if you search. It has been a sweet set up for going on two seasons now, and is more than enough pack for a two day camp.

It is a modular system, so you can use it as a the full system, or just the frame. Here is a video review that I found helpful.

Here is a link to the pack on their website.

You can pack for 2 days using a good sized day pack. I personally wouldnt buy a large framed pack for a two day trip and then have it sit in the closet for years to come. I have the badlands superday, X2, and Flash 32. The x2 & flash 32 both have light weight frames, can be used for just about anything, and double as a decent bivy pack. They can pack a light load of meat as well. The x2 can be used with all the different accessories from Elberle, but if I were picking one out of the three for all around comfort/use I would go with the Sitka Flash 32.

All great packs that others have mentioned. I have to throw the Badlands 2200 in the mix as well. Its a work horse of a pack. It will hold more than you want to carry, and is more than enough room for two days.

I agree for 2 days stay you do not need a J107, I use that for a week long stay. But if you score on your trip the extra room in the large pack could save you multiple trips. But you may want to consider that you will be carrying around an 8-9 pound empty pack plus gear for all of your hunt. For me the Badlands 2200 is a little too small for a 2 day but their 2800 is great. If I score on a short 2-3 day hunt I use the Badlands 2800 or the Eberlestock X1 or X2 I pack out camp, gear and whatever else will fit for the return trip and go back in with my freighter for the rest.

I have the badlands 2200 it a real good pack. But I have had to replace 3 zippers so far. It was bad enough on the first 2 when I had to ship it to badlands and they got it back to me, I was still out 2 weeks with out a pack, but the last time they charged me $12 dollars to ship the pack back to me. Shipping the pack both ways adds up real quick and to me it is not worth buying another badlands pack. It is also a heavy pack.

I second the J107 pack recomendation... I have owned the badlands and a few others. the 107 is great. We do 3-4 day archery elk hunts and this will easily carry what you need. The nice thing is that I can fit everything for a 3 day or so hunt without even expanding the pack... then when you got bone or meat to haul, you let it expand and off you go. In rifle hunt the scaberd is great as well, easy to hook a bow on and it is comfortable. for day hunts, it does up tight so that it does not get in the way when you draw back... it has my recommendation.

+1

This system is great. I got mine about a month ago and it really holds the weight amazingly well. The beauty is you have it as a day pack as well and if you ever want to make that 2 day trips a 6 day trip you can do that too.
