i'm looking to get a good wool sweater for my late season hunting and winter activities. can anyone point me in the direction of some good brands? just looking for a basic style/color. nothing fancy. thanks.

I have one I got from Cabellas years ago in bargain deal, cheap.Henley style olive green, use it layering.15 yrs old
The other one for winter is a thick ragg wool,white/brown/gray my dad left me, Eddie Bauer.30+ yrs old. Excellent in snow. Both where made in US. I would check out used clothing stores for quality ones cheep. Love wool. Look for English,Irish and New Zealand stuff too.

If you check out Woolrich.com that may be a good place to find some woolies that hold up for years. If you have an army surplus warehouse nearby, that would be another excellent place to find super woolies at a great price. I got some there for snowshoeing in the Rockies 15+ years ago. The ad to my left is showing Santana Outdoors with Merino Wool. LOL Good luck with your woolie hunt!

I have many wool sweaters and wool shirts.I just posted the ones I use for hunting. Bauer,Bean,Woolrich,Pendelton, and one Filson.Hand knit ones too. Forgot about the surplus store ,good idea.I have some pants from there too.

army/navy is the cheapest way to get some good cold weather sweaters IMO.

It isn't cheap, but I got a filson waterfowling sweater as a gift 10 years ago and it is awesome.

Brigade Quartermaster "Wooly Pully" Have been using one for over 25 years. Great product!

I have a Cabelas Wool Sweater with Windshear that I haven't any use for. Got it last Christmas as a present, size large and in like new condition. If you're interested I'd be more n willing to sell it to you. Send me a PM if interested.
