Early season boots

Sniper If you want uninsulated there are allot of choices for low top hiking type boots. If you want high top not so many choices, most high tops now are all insulated. I recently got some
Meindal Denali
10" tops and no Insulation.I REALLY like them. Cabelas has them.

Ditto what CC says. I have the Meindal Ibex with 200 ins. I use most of the time. And have the older Cabellas hunting sneaker with gore-tex and they work great out here in NM PJ country, more like a moccosin with high tops. But hard on the feet in real rocky country like the Sierras.

I have the meindel european models, cabelas and aj brooks.Just got a pair of Crispis,Idaho model.Really impressed so far. These will be my antelope boots this year. Larry

It's tough to beat Lowa Renegades. Scarpa also makes some great light hikers. Take a look at Sierra Trading...you can usually get great name brand boots for about 50% off. They usually have coupons available for an additional 20 to 30% off! I just bought a great pair of gortex Hanwag's for $100. I would also make sure your boots have a gortex liner.

I just received the Lowa Khumba II GTX from Lathrop and Sons. I haven't got a chance to use them. My initial impressions are they are well made, and will be perfect for light to heavy loads. The boots have a tapered shank (5mm to 3mm).

I have wore them around the house, but I have just been to busy to really hike in them yet. They are non-insulated and 3.9lbs. They should work good for high country mule deer and chasing elk in September.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-13 AT 12:57PM (MST)[p]Cabelas Meindel AirRevolution, light weight, no insulation and durable. MY feet get hot easily and these are the best I have found for early season hunts.
