Hey any input on some good 2-3 day elk hunting packs. I want a pack that i can also pack out a load of meat with. I have a badlands 2200 and it is ok but could use a pack that is a touch larger. Cant afford the 5-6 hundred dollar packs, id like to keep to the 3 hundred dollar range. Any suggestions?

Check out the Hornhunter full curl combo. If you are packing in than check the Hornhunter full curl system. I love mine its a great pack & made in the USA.

Awesome pack that you can easily get 4 days of gear in and then it breaks down to where you can use it as a day pack. Then once you have dropped a trophy it can turn into a pack frame that can handle any weight you dare to load up.

KUIU has a 3lb 9oz, 6000ci pack on the way that compresses down to day pack size with small loads. Full kit for $349...

I have the Badlands 2200 and really like it. Last year on a sheep hunt we packed in for 4 days and my 2200 was stuffed as full as I could get it. If you like badlands they have a new pack out called the clutch and it is real nice, and bigger at 2900ci than the 2200.
I also like the light weight KUIU 6000 and have one on order.
There are a lot of real good backpacks out there, try them on and see what you like best.

Stopped in today to check out the Clutch pack. Seems to fit well and lots of space. Not sure i like the design for packing meat out though. The 2200 was not in stock, im interested to check out the changes for the new model. Anyone know were a guy can check out and try on the Horn Hunter packs?

I am a huge fan of the Horn Hunter Full Curl system. Between my family and I we have hauled tons (literally) of elk meat out with these packs, and they continue to perform year after year. I love that you can fully remove the pack and just be left with the frame. It is an all in one pack that will do the job for any big game hunting.

I would recommend going straight to them. They are located in Sandy UT. Great people. They would be happy to help you with anything that you need. I love the fit of mine. The load lifters actually work and leave all of the weight resting on your hips. The pack has so many different ways that you can configure it to carry loads that I can't imagine anyone would have a problem with hauling long distances.
For some reason these packs aren't mentioned nearly as much as Badlands or Eberlestock but I would say Horn Hunter produces some of the best packs on the market. Everyone talks about the badlands warranty but Horn Hunter and all Sportsman's Outdoor Products have that same great warranty on all their gear as well.

This is pulled straight from their website:

"We pay attention to the fine details that make our products unique. It is our goal to assist you in a quality hunt and make your successful outing?our success. One way that we accomplish this is to offer the best guarantee in the industry. It is simple. If you ever have a problem with any of our products, we will repair or replace it forever!!! We will do everything possible to fix it, and get you back out hunting."

The Outdoorsmans Long Range Hunter Pack has become my favorite big hunting pack. Carries a big load like few other packs on todays market and has pockets made specifically for optics/tripods.

Check it out.
