Hi, I am looking to buy a used utv. It's online, I won't be able to see it before purchase. It's a 2013 polaris ranger 900 eps, any input on this unit? I'm new to the whole utv/atv thing. I have a buddy that buys them frequently online without ever physically seeing it. He looked at me like I'm nuts for questioning it. Is it common for folks to do this? The other issue is it is in NC, I am in MT. Can anyone recommend a good shipping company? Also, do they serve as a middle man holding the money for a predetermined number of days after delivery in case there are issues? I am looking for guidance as to how this process works. My friend only buys stuff that's within a days drive and picks it up himself. Thanks

Buyer beware and buying anything cross country puts your money at risk. You need to go see it drive it and listen to it run. How do you even know it has a clear title? There are units for sale closer to you save yourself some grief and look at them or buy through a dealer. How do you know it wasn't wrecked and he put up a pic before it happened? You worked hard for your money protect yourself by looking and driving what you're going to buy. This guy could be totally honest and most are but do you really want to pay an out of state attorney if he bilks you on top of losing your money? Too much risk on this type of transaction. Why can't he sell it locally??????????

If it's a small town call the cop shop and ask them if they know him and if he a straight shooter. See if a MM member is close to where he is at and if they are willing to do a FTF for you.
OR
Try and do the deal thru a dealership, they can also look it over for you (will cost a few dollars) to make sure it as he says. They might even have a shipper.
I wouldn't send money without a person you trust on his end looking him in the eye or knowing him.

I got scammed doing this, luckily I got my money back.If the deal seems to good to be true it is.I just reported one on ebay. There is a company that goes by ATVUSA or something along these lines. It's a scam.If they give you an address go to google earth street view and see if the business is there. Also be aware of ebay pages that change you to another site.

I wouldn't give 50 cents for anything that I couldn't go see/touch myself.
Way too MANY scams out there in today's world...

There are many things that would be nice to wish for or say but then I would be just like him.

I 2nd what Mntman said.

I am of the opinion that the words of Monty Python, when they encountered the "Killer Rabbit" apply..."RUN AWAY!!!"

For what it would cost to ship it, you could drive to the closest big city and buy one in person.
