Share your thoughts. If you were in the market for a new 4-wheeler, side by side, etc., would you buy Polaris or another brand? Does Polaris have the best machines on the market?

Never a single issue with my 07 Sportsman or those I ride with who have Sportsman's as well. I am not nice with them in the field.

Fairly abusive to my previous 02 Yamaha 660 Grizz and my current 06 Yamaha 450 Kodiak with ZERO problems. Use mine less and less for hunting, but rarely take them where they stay on all 4 wheels for long when I do. Biggest issue is they get colder blooded the older they get, but if I keep tanks filled on cold nights they always start.

My dad and frinds have Polaris, but they seem awful heavy and not as nimble, plus hate their full time 4wd crap, I prefer to push my little button when I need it.

I have a Yamaha Rhino currently that I use for ranch work and play. It's the older style and I love it. I went with Yamaha because Polaris didn't have EFI yet when I bought it. Have had a couple repairs but, for the amount I use it and the hours on it, nothing out of the ordinary. That being said, I looked at the newer Yamahas and I hate them. Yamaha went to a much wider wheel base to get away from the rollover issue. The newer models are essentially side x side x sides with capacity for 3 people to sit up front. Along with that, no dump bed feature and the bed is cheesy plastic. I really think some of these companies are missing the boat when it comes to UTV's. I want something that is nimble and not the size of a small pick-up for off-road use. You can't get the newer ones in the back of a pick-up. I plan to check out Polaris and hopefully their new models are more in line with what many customers are looking for.

I tried Polaris and Can Am and found the Polaris ride to be much smoother. Price wasn't so much a factor as was comfort for my wife. Power in similar sized vehicles was about the same, not much in price difference and salesmen about the same. Ride made the difference for us.

I had never owned a side x side , but recently purchased a Yamaha Viking . So far I really like it . It's a EFI 700cc engine with pretty good power but not a brute powerhouse like some of the other brands . It has a steel lined dump bed and seats three across the front . It is pretty wide , you need a trailer to haul it . I chose it mainly because I needed a machine that would fit my whole family and didn't want a "crew cab " side x side that costs as much as a new 1/2 ton pickup . So far , so good but time will tell if the Viking was a good purchase . I believe they just came out in 2014 so folks haven't been able to find any potential long term issues with them yet.

I'd never own a polaris due to a long history of mechanical issues.

Buy a Honda and never look back. You honestly can't kill these things.
