I finally got around to putting out a video of my thoughts on some of the highest rated lightweight boots. If you're looking for a lighter boot, or looking for boots in general, check this out - hopefully it can help.

I was very impressed with all of these lightweight boots. Most offer everything we'll need for 80% of our hunting. When you're not doing the gnarly stuff, do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of boots that aren't as heavy. It makes a big difference at the end of the day.

Included in the review-
Lowa Techlight Hunter
Salomon 4D GTX
Lowa Ranger
Asolo Neutron
Vasque Breeze 2.0
Scarpa Cyclone

I compare them with a few of my old standbys -
Lowa Tibet
Zambarlan Vioz GTX
Vasque Sundowner

Thanks for the great review on these boots - I was in the market for a lighter weight boot and watched your video. I decided to go with the Asolo Neutrons based on your review and the unbeatable deal on Sierra Trading Post. I have had the boots a just a couple of days now and have only been able to wear them around the house thus far, but I really like their fit and feel and love how light they are yet still very solidly put together. Should get a little bit of time tomorrow out in the hills with them to really try them out.

Thanks for taking the time to put your video together - it definitely helped me out!!

Thanks for the review; +1 on the Nuetrons. Surprisingly stiff for a lightweight boot. Put some neoprene insoles under the stock insoles to make up some internal volume, and they now fit great. Went on a hike in the foothills this morning and you really do feel lighter on your feet in these. So far so good.

Dry fly elk,

Thank you for providing this awesome review. I had a pair of Nuetrons that I just had to return due to an issue with the bottom eyelet. When I did, I was frustrated that I couldn't get them anymore. I bought a pair of Renegade GTX and an AKU SL hike GTX. I already have a Lowa Tibet GTX which I love, but I really liked the Neutron and definitely appreciated the lighter weight but with a stiff sole they were still real in the mountains. It took a while for me to get the fit right, but when I did, they were absolutely terrific. I was so sad.

So....I bought these new boots and they both arrived this week. The AKU was similar in stiffness to the Neutron, but they are not as nice for sure. The Renegades area much softer, but very comfortable to wear.

Tonight, Sierra a trading Post had the GTX Nuetrons listed again. I called and arranged returning the AKU and got a new pair of Neutrons and can't wait. I feel like I can relax again as they had really filled a niche in my boots that I needed filled.

That said, I think the Renegades are staying too. I like them a lot, need a boot for tomorrow being the last day of Utahs General deer hunt and I need something lighter than my Lowa Tibet. And I will likely wear them often as a work shoe. That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks again!

Awesome, firehawk. Glad it was useful for you. You can't beat those neutrons for the price. They are great boots.
