Just curious how you fellas like to carry extra ammo (as if we need more than one shot)? Ammo wallet on the hip? Ammo In a buttstock carrier? A few in the pocket? Any advantages/disadvantages you've found? Thanks

I always use the belt type ammo holder, but i put it in my vest pocket.
I already have to much stuff on my belt. It keeps the shells in one spot and keeps them from rattling when you walk.
I think the one i have holds 10 shells.
The ones that i have ever had that went on buttstock once the shell loops got stretched out the shells would always seem to want to fall out.

I use the belt, wallet type and do carry it on my belt, carries ammo securely and you can get to it easily, holds 10 or 12.

I do understand what you mean about too much stuff on your hip. At one point I was carrying a knife, rangefinder, canteen, ammo and shooting sticks on my belt. Something had to give, knife and canteen(water bottle) went into the day pack. Now if can get me some rangefinding binoculars I can get that rangefinder off my belt.

Well, if I am rifle hunting I carry a box 20 rounds....and here's why....years ago I was hunting alone, my Dad dropped me off on his way back to camp. I told him I would drop to the creek and hunt back to camp....about 5 miles in poaring rain....I had my rain gear on.....so off I went.....about 30 minutes later I shot a real nice buck.....field dressed it and started the drag...big buck hard to drag alone....
It started getting dark so I drug the buck to a big log and covered it with old branches to mark the spot...then I started up the mountain to catch the road......i didnt think I would still be out after dark so I did not have a flashlight...going up through the timber it was pitch black....so dark you could not see your hand one foot in front of your face.....Yeh I fell and Injured my foot and could not walk.....so there I was half way down the mountain alone in the dark, 17yrs old.....I shot two shots....then two more hoping someone would respond......I looked up the mountain and saw headlights flash as a truck turned the corner....I shot two shots again, then again,....The truck stopped and the guy told his companion, hey stop the truck, the driver said why, just some poacher shooting down in the canyon.....the other guy said might be somebody in trouble.....they shot one shot back to me and started yelling....I shot back and started yelling.....down to my last round out of 20 so.....its not always about how many rounds you need carry to kill a deer.....those guys came down, found me and carried me out, took me back to camp, then later after we wrapped my foot......later we went back and it took 5 guys and a rope to get that big buck up to the road.....1964... Damn I'm old......lasting memories...

Depends on What my tag cost.
I always like to get alot of shooting in for a high price tag, getting the most bang for my buck.

Rifle magazine is loaded, 3 in my pocket and 10 in an ammo wallet in the day pack. It's been years and years since I hung stuff off my belt and never leave the road without a pack.
If I have time to fire more than 7 shots, I have time to unzip the pocket of my pack and grab my ammo wallet (but I cannot remember a time when it was needed but I'll still carry it as backup).
