Got me a new Cabelas Alaskan Guide model 6 person tent with fiberglass poles. For those who use this kind I have a few questions. Is condensation an issue in rain or cold and snow? Should I have an extra fiberglass pole in case I break one in the field? Does anyone use a vestibule on these or are they still available even? I have always wanted a tent like these and from what I researched before hand they are a good tent. Thanks in advance!

Condensation is not an issue. Yes on the extra poles. I am on my second tent. The first was destroyed and that was my fault. I have a wall tent and another canvas tent, but for me this is my favorite tent. Had it in some pretty severe conditions with no issues. The 8 man is just right for 2 guys and gear. I don't use the vestibule.

Used the 6 man tent 3 years ago on a 10 float trip for moose in the brooks. Season was mid sep and the weather was brutal. Tent held up very well. Pretty much saved us. We had the vestival and it came in handy.

Big fan of this tent.

I just bought the same tent & have used it a couple of times. Awesome tent 1st time setting up is a real Pain & is a two man job !! It comes with the vestibule I have not had any condensation issues at all . plenty of ventilation available . I highly recommend getting the floor liner & a good ground tarp also . You can also get the aluminum poles to replace the fiberglass ones !!

I use the same tent but with the aluminum poles.

It's an awesome tent and got me through plenty of rough patches of weather on moose, elk and deer hunts.

I've had it for 4-5 years now and zero issues even in gale force winds and driving rain.

Mine just has the extended flap-type vestibule so I don't know any differently.

The real bonus was my wife just showed up one day with this new tent. She and her twin had been out shopping at Cabela's and they both bought one.

First time setting it up is a joke but it's a snap after you know how to cross the lateral poles etc.

Had my eye on this tent for awhile now and will pull the trigger the next time a good deal shows up. Just out of curiosity, and in the hopes of avoiding frustration the first time I set it up, what is the trick to setting it up the first time? Or is that something I have to figure out on my own to truly experience this tent??

Awesome tent set it up in your yard 1st !! I set mine up 1st time in the dark MY BAD never do that again !! pretty easy make sure too stake out the 4 corners 1st & then its a matter of putting the side poles in . Pretty easy from there on
