I will be embarking on my first cold weather archery hunt soon. I have only archery hunted the warm months of August and September. What do you all recommend for a jacket or light parka that is waterproof, insulated, quiet and compact enough to still shoot a bow. With out breaking the bank.

womper: its all about layers...save some bucks...shop Cabelas on line......purchase some quality military grade long johns, you have camo shirts, get water proof pants either Gortex or Cabelas Dry Plus, Cabelas has a couple Packable rain jackets waterproof ..Smartwool socks Cabelas or REI....you will get hot and sweat a ton when your climbing the mountain......always wear the water proof stuff then you can layer on or off when off just stuff it in your backpack....set up your backpack with a camelback drinking system...if you haven't already...get a couple sets of pants and socks...this method you dont need to pack rain gear..rain or shine your covered....noting worse than a wet butt after a rain or snow....gortex gloves or at least a couple pairs of thin gloves to feel your release trigger...headlamp....gps, quickClot, first aid kit extra batteries

Good Luck,

LAST EDITED ON Oct-09-16 AT 08:48AM (MST)[p]I would take an arm protector to put on over your bow holding arm regardless of what clothes you wear. Can get by without it in warm weather, but as you layer, especially with raingear, you may need it.
