Looking at the Stone Glacier Avail 2200. (Not to sure it would fit the bill, haven't had my hands on one)
1.day pack thats built for the successful hunter that bones meat out.
2. Im not looking at packing 100plus pounds on my back. (Im ok with more than one trip, just want my first one to be comfortable, stable)
3. I like the idea of detaching the pack from the frame, mounting meat bag close to back, then reattach the bag back to frame.
4. Im really not sold in having the Krux frame, or other heavier duty frames that i strap my (minimalist) pack to. Seems to defeat the purpose.
5. Would like at least 2000 c.i. of space and be able to haul 50 to 60 lbs of meat out in a meat sack.

I also looked at the mystery ranch divide. Kinda liked that idea. Buuuuttt. If u had stuff in the main center compartment, all of it would have to go for the meat bag to fit securely flat against the frame.
Am i wrong on that design?

Seek Outside makes a great pack that fits your needs and they are made here in Grand Junction, Colorado. They are pricey though.

thats what I run. I've packed a couple deer in one trip each and its almost like it isn't even there.

scan thru this section & the reviews section there is A LOT of info on different packs . I would strongly recommend KUIU PRO series or the EXO packs . I have the KUIU 5200 I use on ALL my hunts from a day out shed hunting to full pack out or pack in trips . Weighs in at 5.2 # I take the top bag off drops it down to around 5 # great fit has the meat shelf & is very adjustable

Thanks for the help. After i posted, i saw the post below about packs.
The "cabinet" looks great. Totally missed that the last time i looked on their site. I looked at "day packs", and its actually under "load hauling" . Which i didnt look at figuring it was just pack frames.
Thanks again for the help!!

I bought an EXO 3500 and have been hiking around with it the last couple weeks, its extremely comfortable. I was torn between the mystery ranch and the stone glacier packs too, I don't regret going with the Exo. Good luck to you

If you are just going with one pack I would seriously look at a larger Stone Glacier or Kifaru. It's pretty tough getting an elk 1/4 in a 2,000 to 4,000ish bag/frame and most aren't designed for weight/bulk over around 40 lbs. Your body will thank you for a pack designed for larger loads! It's possible to snug up a larger bag tight to the frame when not fully loaded. I sometimes use a 2,200 to 2,800 cu in pack to hunt and a large 6,000 cu in bag to hunt but if I only had the option of one bag I'd highly recommend 6,000+. The nice thing about Kifaru is once you have a frame you can use the same frame for different bags. You also have the ability to customize bags with a long list of assessories. Once you buy Stone Glacier or Kifaru you won't need another pack...they are that good!

I have a SG sky archer. Basically it is 2 packs in one. Lid comes off and it easily compresses to a good size day pack. YouTube shows a good demonstration. Great pack!

Several great choices listed above. I'll put in another vote for Kifaru. I like the Woodsman as a smaller pack but I go with a bigger pack and would suggest the Reckoning if you decide to go bigger. Fatrooster.
