I love the idea of swapping hunts, but only know enough about the outfitting laws governing this kind of thing here to make me a bit nervous to offer one. Can anyone fill us in to make sure we don't unknowingly break the law?

You do not have to be an outfitter to swap hunts. Outfitter license is normally needed when you hunt for compensation not recreation, such as a swap.

i have nothing to swap but you could give me a free guided muley hunt lol or elk iam not picky lol

I've done a couple of swaps in the past and the rules are pretty simple. You in no way can accept any money or goods for services rendered. The person has to pay for everything including meals unless, they're offered as a home cooked offering. Remember, no gas, no lodging, or money can change hands and you'll be ok.

I know that hear in Idaho you can half the costs of the hunt and that means gas lodging food ect...

I won a Idaho Super Hunt Tag for Elk and want to swap for a Iowa Whitetail hunt on private property managed for trophy bucks. I will be doing a DIY hunt with some friends into unit 17 late in the season but though it might be great to bow hunt with a local pro with this special tag. Iowa is hard to beat for world class whitetail. This tag is a dream come true for me and I want to make the most of it. I have never big game hunted outside of Iowa and am looking for memories.
