Sounds good! I'll trade ya!
I hunt over your dogs for a few days and you hunt over mine for a few days! LOL
My dogs are a little green so be warned!

Just jokin' with ya! But really, I am jealous and wish I was going to SD. I went a few years back and have been dying to go back!

Ok I will take that deal, But you will need some longlegged dogs to keep up with the deer.
Always welcome to come up for a pheasant hunt.

You know You, Kenny and Carrie are always welcome.
Right now we are taking up 4 dogs (2 GSP 2 EPointers)
Nephews say the amount of birds is pretty high so it should be a good hunt.

The wind was brutal the first 3 days, birds was jumping up 80 yds out they wouldn't hold for crap, still got 24 birds with only 3 guys and their dogs. Most area's was just to big for a 3 man crew. Got to see some great bucks taken by nephews.
It was still a good hunt just alot rougher this year then most years, seen lots of hens, hope the winter is kind to them and we should have great numbers next season.
some of the sloughes we would see pheasants flying out before we would even start in, had 3 great places where the bird numbers was really great 75 or more birds flushed out, My dog pointed 12 birds in about 10 minutes and everyone but one was a hen, can't beat the work out the dogs got, that was about the only slough we had birds that would hold.
Seem like all the little patches that was good for a 3 man crew didn't hold many birds and if they did they was hens or deer. Jumped deer every slough we walked so really good one's, others just small bucks and does, Rut was in full swing.
Walked on thick ice one day, next day it was gone weird weather,
21 one night next day 50 degrees next night 38 degrees.
If the ice would stayed it would made getting into those big sloughes and flushing out birds a lot easier for the dogs(california Dogs and cold water), The day it was froze all the way out we did good we all shoot limits and the pheasants held longer. Had one slough where the coons was a problem with fighting the dogs ended up killing one that would back off, charge me so he got a load of #4's. Good coon pelts are worth $14 bucks LOL.
Hope some of you guys can make it back next year, We had fun.

I always read your post and they bring back great memories. Maybe all the stars will line up and I can make it out to the Dakotas to chase some long tails around. Thanks for the post.

It's always a great time, with the rutting bucks to the amount of roosters we see. We try and go the Veterns day weekend so keep those dates open.
