Looking for Elk hunt

My buddy and I have been on guided hunts before but with kids and college the extra funds just are not there to go guided right now.Possibly looking for someone who does motel it or has someplace to hunt that would not mind a couple of guys covering all the expenses in exchange for showing us around.Hope I am not out of line here and if I am sorry, but we are getting the itch before the kids are out of college without spending a ton of money for some more Elk hunting.Thank you,Ed

I believe that would be illegal if you paid for everything. I would try to do a swap where you each paid your own way and just swapped info on areas or actually hunt together in each other's areas.

What is illegal about tagging along on a hunt and paying for everything. The hunters are not guiding them as they have no tag.

Well I guess What I am asking is to possibly hook up with some hunters that either hunt state land or drive say 1000 miles and we could cover the cost of motel, food and such.We live 2000 miles from Vail Co.and would not be cost effective to drive out there blind without getting some scouting in.I really do not see see any difference in this or taking a college kid out with little funds and helping with his bill.Heck I could just fly in and tag along but just do more of the chores around camp without even hunting.Just getting to know an area is all I guess we are looking for and to make new friends. Thanks Ed

Your right that's not illegal. I assumed that they wanted to tag along with a tag in their pocket. Being they don't have money for a guided hunt it didn't cross my mind they would have the money to do a week long scouting trip, pay for everything, and have money to come back and hunt later?

I would just be careful. It would suck to get in trouble since its kind of a gray area.

Not even close to illegal Dirty! Never seen anything in any states regulations that says you can't pay for a hunting partners expenses. Hell I've even bought a buddy's tag online for him because he didn't have a credit card and he just payed me back in cash.
Not sure if dirty misunderstood what you are asking for but I don't think it's even a grey area so if you find a taker go for it.
