ok this may sound stupid but to exchange a hunt or set up an exchange wouldn't you have to draw out of state tags? just wondering how it work's

Depends. There are some over the counter areas in some states (Colorado elk for example). Otherwise you would have to put in for and draw a tag to hunt some hunts. However, some private land hunts can provide tags that bypass the drawings. Again, it depends. I have been Moose hunting in Alaska (no draw), elk/mule deer hunting in Montana (drawing only, but fairly easy), and Colorado (some draw and some OTC).

My swap partners come to Texas to hunt my ranch and they simply buy an over the counter license.

Some thing that the Texas fellow did not mention was there are several "first come first tags" available in Idaho at least in addition to the drawn tags, outfitter allocated tags, the land owner tags and the over the counter tags. Then there are hunts and fishing trips that only require a license. Then there are camera hunts which require none of the above.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-23-05 AT 06:11PM (MST)[p]I've been to Txhunters property to hunt and can tell you he has a great chunk of land with plenty of critters and an awesome place to stay. Me and my buddy hunted blackbuck but he may have a few other critters available. YES, we were succesful :)
