Huskemaw vs Nightforce

I have never tried a Huskemaw, but I own the Night force 5.5-22x56 zero stop and It is an excellent scope, optics are clear and are great in low light. The turret is solid and tracks perfectly. I have shot steel targets consistently out to 1400 yards(when it is NOT windy). I hope to hit the steel at a mile soon. Good luck on your future adventures.

Rambo, i'd be interested in what caliber and make of gun ,and load you shoot. I'm considering buying the same scope for my 300 Win.Thanks

I own both. They both are great scopes and function well.

The nightforce was a little more money, but optically I can't tell a difference. The only true difference I see in the two is one is substantially heavier, the night force has an exposed turret and the other is covered. I don't think you would go wrong either way. Both scopes have a great warranty. It all comes down to the features your looking for such as crosshair design and turret options. My only complaint on the night force is the weight. I love both scopes and wouldn't trade or sell either!

That being said don't overlook the line of Vortex and Zeiss Conquest series either! Great optics for the money and will do the same with a custom made turret!

Just my 2 cents!

I own a huskemaw but havn't had it on a gun yet. I have a custom 300 win mag being built now from Red Hawk Rifles and in 2 months i will send it in to get mounted and the barrel broke in. I can't wait to shoot it. The scope is really clear and i think i will like it.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-26-13 AT 10:08AM (MST)[p] I have both also: IMHO the Huskemaw is a hunting scope not for shooting X,s (ie minute of back strap and does it very well) for shooting X,s love my NF np-r1 ret..both great scopes but for different uses hunting vers target..Danny

The nightforce NXS is the most "bullet proof" scope around. You could use the thing as a hammer and it would still hold its zero. I am currently saving for one...buy once cry once!

deepforks:...No the turrets are not covered on the NF and I don,t know of any options ( I use a scope-coat to keep from bumping the scope in the safe)Danny

The scope that nightforce makes for G7 has a capped windage knob. Dont relly need the cap for the elevation cause it has zero stop. It takes quite a bit force to turn the knobs...they are pretty tactile.

I think:

Huskemaw = made in China
Nightforce = made in Japan

(I know, I know...Nightforce is supposed to be made in the USA, but the glass is made in Japan, main body is made in Japan. Mostly I think its just assembled in the USA) Also, it is stamped "made in Japan" I don't see this as a negative though, Japan makes great glass/optics.

I have the nightforce and love it.

I have no idea if this is true or not, and I know little to nothing about Huskemaw. I spent some time in their booth at the DSC show a few weeks ago. I specifically asked them about the glass, in which they just replied that they buy the very best glass they can afford to put in their scopes. When the "where are they made" question came up, they said they are made in the same factory as NF scopes. I'm not representing this as fact, just what they told me in person.

>Ya, and I had a salesman
>tell me that Vortex was
>made in the same factory
>as Swarovski.

I've heard that before... If Swarovski had a factory in china (they dont) then it would be true.

I thought NF got their glass from SHOT in Germany.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-13 AT 11:22PM (MST)[p]Absolutely incorrect!
Huskemaws scopes are made in the same factory as Nightforce,
LIGHT OPTICAL WORKS in Japan.
The difference is each company has their scope manufactured to their own specifications within LOW and that Nightforce has their scopes shipped back for assembly in the USA.

I own the Huskemaw Blue Diamond 5x20x50mm and am currently developing a load for my Tikka T3 7mm mag and although I have not shot past 100 yards yet, the gun is shooting .529" groups using the Huskemaw. I like the Huskemaw, and this is coming from someone who uses Leupold VX III's on all my other rifles.
I am seriously contemplating selling all my Leupolds and replacing them with Huskemaws.

The high end Vortex are mfg in the Philippines, same as Nikon. I believe their lower cost stuff is made in China.

Leupold makes some of their stuff in Asia too, don't be fooled. In fact, I don't believe there are any brand name binoculars made in the USA anymore.
