Choosing a scope

I just got a Remington 700 XCR II in 7mm mag. I am looking for a scope now so I thought I would get some opinions here. $1,500 would be my max budget and would prefer US made. Thanks for the help!

Chad, I am a Leupold fan, currently using a VX3 on my .375. Works great and Leupold fully backs their scopes. With that said, I haven't had one fail on me yet, and I have a few that are pushing 15-18 years old. Burris makes some nice scopes, but I think they are a lot heavier than Leupold. With your budget, you can buy darn near any scope you might want.

My choice would still be Leupold, but I have to admit the German is glass is fantastic. I have never spent the money on German scopes, only binos, but Leupold have worked in every situation I have ever been in.

Good luck,

cant go wrong with a leupold VX-3, and thats only about half of your max budget.

Now just to figure out what configuration!

As a side note: my dad just bought a VX-6 and I think its pretty much equivalent to a VX-3, but its a 30mm tube and has a 6X magnification range. My dads is a 2-12 power and that seems pretty awesome. Almost makes you wonder why anyone would want a VX-3 anymore. I think it was almost $1000, and his had the B&C reticle.

swarovski is assembled in Rhode island and you should be able to get a z5 for about that amount of money, no comparision in optical quality between the Swarovski and the Leupold IMHO. You should get 15 more minutes at dusk and dawn with the Swaro.. (I have both)

Thanks,

Ryan
