Scope question

I am looking for a new replacement for my el cheapo spotting scope. I am looking at 60-60mm scopes due to I pack in. Most of the scopes are 15-45 zoom. My cheap scope is 60 and while I cant use 60 it does ok a little past 45. So the question is if I spend more on a scope will the zoom be better and I should be getting a 60 zoom scope or do most do only good to 45 and that is why thats all they sell? Thanks.

The quality of the glass, lighting, air quality, temperature, and distance will all have a greater impact at higher magnifications. High end glass with good conditions will no doubt produce adequate images at 60x. I don't own that kind of glass.

So would it be ok to just get the 45 power since I really don't have the mo ey for top of the line at this point. The only 60 zoom I've really seen is the vortex nomad so I do wonder what that's like.

Just to clarify, if you backpack in most of the time you are going to want to buy a smaller spotting scope like a 60MM to 65MM and none of those scopes are going to be 60X magnification. They will have a 20-60X eyepiece but the true magnification will be something like 16-48X due to the size of the lenses. The only way you will get up to a 60X scope for magnification is to buy the larger 77MM or 80MM scopes.

Sorry it's 1399 not 1300

Then you would have to save another $450 for the eyepiece.
