Haven't bought new scope in about ten years overwhelmed by all the new ones out there and the options. Budget is $500. This will be for a 270wsm I want to get the most out of the gun. This will be a back country gun so weight and size is important. Also where to buy, I like a good deal.

I have a leupold vx3 4.5-14 with CDS turret on my 270WSM Kimber. Great reliable scope for about $500. On my 270win I use a vortex viper 4-12 and I really like the clarity and fine BDC reticle. Both purchased at Cabelas. I recommend both scopes highly.

One of the closeout Zeiss Conquests might still be available if you do a search. After the rebate, I believe I paid about $500 for my 4.5x14-44 with the Rapid-Z 800 reticle. I swear I saw one online somewhere a week or so back.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-08-13 AT 05:11PM (MST)[p]I've looked at the leupolds and like them. Thats part of my question in the vx-3 there are 5 different models in 4-12 that are cds. vx-2 there is 2 models. What model do you guys have? Objective size? Adjustable? Too many options! Does anyone ever have sales on Leupold?

I have one of the VX-2 4-12 with AO and it is equipped with CDS. For the money, I think the VX-2 series is a heck of a bargain. 12 power is all you could ever need for hunting. As far as sales, cameraland carries Leupold now, and Bearbasin is another good place for pricing. mtmuley

LAST EDITED ON Jul-10-13 AT 10:19AM (MST)[p]I went with the vx3 in 3.5-10x50 it fits in my scabbard nice and for me it's easy to hold steady at longer distance. Also you could check out sport optics they have good prices with no tax and free shipping I normally buy from them.
