Is there any performance difference in these two binoculars in the latest model out? I was at Cabela's and the sales rep was telling me that the binoculars were the same except for the way they look and feel. I like the feel of the EL's better, but for the price difference I'm now considering the SLC's. I didn't compare the two hard because at the time I was at the store I wasn't as interested in the SLC. Your thoughts?

that sales person is not very knowledgeable. the two main differences are the open bridge design on the e.l and also on the e.l has whats called swarovision which takes all the distortion out from edge to edge.if you go back to the store compare them again at a small sign reading small letters ,pull your eye to the outer edge with both you will notice a big difference .well worth the money I have 10x32 12x50 10x42.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. After my initial post I continued researching and that's what I'm reading. The edge to edge clarity and Swarovision being the differences.

No question the EL's are better. but to your other question, are they worth the extra money? maybe for a bird watcher but for a hunter I doubt it unless money isn't an object.

Depends on how much of an optics snob you are..

I love my EL's, and I really like the SLC HD's.. I picked up a close out pair of SLC HD's 10x42's at cabelas for 1200.00 last week for my dad.

If you check around, you maybe able to find a pair for that still left on the shelves.
