Trigger Stick & Spotting Scope

Bought a Primos Trigger Stick for my 11 year old daughter's oryx hunt. Worked as fine as one could ever expect. Then, I got to thinking - boy this would be great to be able to use a trigger stick not only as a rest but as a tripod for my spotting scope (Swaro). I always like combining functionality to reduce weight in the pack.

The question is - has anyone ever tried this and if so, how did it work for you?

The other question is - what would be the best tripod head for this type of setup?

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it the original Trigger Stick or the new version? The newer version has a head on it that swivels and you cannot lock, which is fine for glassing with binos, but it's a little difficult to lock a spotter in on an animal a mile away if the head is constantly moving on you. This was my biggest beef with the new Trigger Stick because I think it should have some way to lock the head down so it doesn't move. I have attached the swivel head from my Slik tripod to the Trigger Stick tripod, and it worked OK, but, again, there's not way to lock down the Trigger Stick portion to stay on target, so having a tripod head attached to it is a bit of a moot point because it doesn't add any stability. I like the Trigger Stick otherwise; it's just the lack of ability to lock the head that I dislike.
