I would like some advise on what you guys use for your quality binoculars. I sold my Swaro's last fall to a guy who showed up to hunt with some Simmons binocs. I now have the EL Range, before I haul them into the field a lot I think for the first time I'll use a case rather than the bino harness I've used for the last 25 years. I have no experience with the cases other than hunting with a guy who used a Badlands and made a lot of noise while I tried to show him a buck.

So help me out is there something better than the Badlands?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-14 AT 12:20PM (MST)[p]Badlands are good, but way overpriced, in my opinion. I thought they were spendy at $89.00, now they're $129.00. Kinda bulky too.

Alaska Guide Creation (AGC) is a good case, but not quite as "weather resistant" as the Badlands. Probably quieter though.

I use Crooked Horn Outfitters Bino Shield Binocular Covers (less than $45 on Amazon) with a bino harness when in the field. It seems to work well for me as the glass is easily accessed from the cover.

Corn, check out the Kuiu bino harness, it's a case and a harness in one. top of the line system in my opinion, most of the time I just use the strap and not the case part but it's pretty nice.

What do you think of your EL Ranges ? I'm trying to decide between those and the new Leica's. I have about decided on the Swaro's .

Thank guys really some good info. I have it narrowed down between the Kuiu and the Sitka I'll decide in the next couple days.

I like the EL Range a lot. It was between the Leica's and Swaro's for me I tried them both side by side and really couldn't tell much difference either way. I'm just looking at deer that have moved down from the Sandhills but after a couple of times they range for me past a 1000 yards. I don't really notice a difference between what I had Swarovision and Swarobright of the range bino. I might if I had them side by side.

A concern for me was the range button on the wrong side (left) with a bow but not a problem for me. My hands are huge though, apelike might be a problem if a guy didn't have big hands. They are easy for me to operate with my right hand.

I much prefer the looks and feel of the Swarovski. the Leica is a great product I'm sure but the fit and design looks like some Ronco junk I was very let down when I saw the first pair .

My only concern is they say in sub freezing temps the Swaro's don't range all the time, but I suspect that has more to do with battery level than the brand of the glass it's in.

I told my local outlet to get me the Swarovski today.

I bought Swaro's for that reason better ergonomics in the hand. I was out Saturday morning at -9 for about 30 minutes and ranged a few things it worked great. I was too cold to stay out any longer, batteries are obviously brand new.
