Vanguard Alta+ 234A tripod w/ ph-22 pan head

Just curious if anybody has used this specific tripod for mounting their spotting scope. It has the vanguard ph-22 pan head on it. I picked one up off camofire last night, sight unseen, but it seems like a solid unit, and has very high reviews, but it seems most are from photographers. If you have ever used one, chime in and let me know. thanks
