I've been very curious as to how I might like a higher power binocular, so when Vortex offered to send me a set of the Vulture HD 15x56's to try out, I was all for it.

I got them a week or so ago and have used them just a little this past weekend. It's too early to say if they'd work for my style of hunting. I'll be taking them out atleast another time or two before shipping them back. I'll keep you all posted.

I do believe I'm going to need to use a tripod, or be sitting with my elbows on my knees for most of my glassing with these bino's, as they weigh in at about 43.6 ounces. An expected weigh for such an optic.

They retail for $500 - $600, so they're not a super highend optic, but may be great for those with a limited budget.

If you have experience with these optics, please share your thoughts. I'll update as soon as I can.

Brian,
I have found it impossible to steady my 15's w/o a tripod. But I love to spot with them when they are attached. Mine are an old pair of Swaros and with the pod, packing isn't so great. They have however turned up some long distance animals my 10s would have missed.

Love the power! I was also quite pleased with how much light they gathered. Very nice. They performed real good in late evening and early morning.

I used these bino's on my last backpack trip last week and I like them, but found that it is tough to keep them steady. I shake anyway. I think a tripod is needed for long term glassing. I was fine if I just sat down, put my elbows on my knees and glassed for only a few minutes. If I were going to glass from one spot for 15 - 20 minutes, I'd want them on a tripod.

Field of view is a bit small for glassing under 500 yards. Lots of moving, but if a guy is glassing beyond 500 yards, they're fine and the power makes up for the smaller field of view.

I think these optics are great for a guy who doesn't want to pack a spotting scope and who is hunting open country where most game is going to be at a good distance.

They're priced very good too.
